Classroom Assessments
The more I know about what and how my students learn, the better I can plan for instruction.
Assessments for assigning grades:
- Class projects
- Performance assessments
- End of chapter or unit tests
- Multiple choice tests or quizzes
- Matching quizzes
- Fill in the blank quizzes
- Written response assessments
- Rubrics
Assessments for planning instruction:
- Quarterly benchmark tests
- Mid-year checkpoint assessments
- One on one writing conferences
- Passing Notes- I write a question on an envelope about the lesson that was just taught. As students pass the envelope around the room, students answer the question on a piece of paper and place it in the envelope. Responses are later reviewed and used to plan for reteaching or extension activities.
- 3-2-1 Feedback- After a lesson, students write 3 things they learned, 2 questions they still have about the topic, and 1 thing they enjoyed about the lesson.
- Thumbs Up/Thumbs Down- end of lesson questioning strategy
- KWL Charts
- Questioning prompts- ask questions that will help to better measure student understanding
- Writen responses to the weekly Essential Questions
Student self-assessments:
- Writing checklists
- KWL Charts
